Meet Dr. Viet Minh Nguyen

Dr. Viet Nguyen began his dental journey in 1993 at the Tufts School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. At his graduation ceremonies in 1997, he was selected by the schools dental faculty to receive the Academy of Operative Dentistry award in recognition of his outstanding achievement in the field of Operative Dentistry. Prior to his admission to dental school, he studied at the University of Toronto and received his Honors B.Sc. in Physical Geography, with a major in Urban and Economic Geography.

Upon returning to Whitby from the US, he immediately entered into a group practice with his father Dr. Sang Nguyen at the Abe Taylor/ George Morgan, Canadian Auto Workers (C.A.W) Dental Centre in Oshawa, along with an additional associateship position with Dr. Hai Vu, in Scarborough. In 2006, in collaboration with The Oshawa Clinic Group of Physicians and Surgeons, he then set up The Airport Dental Centre in Oshawa, where 2 Nguyen Family General Dentists, Viet and Sang, 1 Orthodontic Specialist, Dr. Huy Nguyen and other dental colleagues provided their services to the community.

At Airport Dental, he truly believes that the dentistry of tomorrow is already happening today and with that in mind has partnered with Dentsply Sirona to equip Airport with CAD CAM CEREC (same day Veneers, Crowns and Bridges), 3D Prime print (retainers, nightguards and dentures) and a 3D CAT SCAN/ CBCT located at the sister office, The Apex Dental Centre. He is always excited to share his knowledge and experience applying the new technologies to the benefit of his long standing and new patients alike at both dental practices.

He has his BLM and ACLS certification, is a Qualitative Respirator Fit tester and has worked with the Durham College Dental Hygiene Program as a clinical instructor, and when not in work, technology, speaker or mentorship mode, he finds comfort in his family of 5 plus a "furry" child and entertaining friends. He has a "Survivor" mode which often finds him backcountry camping and foraging on land and water for edibles and medicinal plants and fungi. His favorite room in the house is the garage where his YouTube mechanic skills can be fully realized often culminating in an occasional visit to the local race track in his vintage ride or organizing a group meet and cruise to points in the Durham Region.
